Tourism
Ambassadors

Newly qualified tourist guides from the DEDAT Visit Stellenbosch Programme at Kleine Zalze Wine Estate.

Opening the door to a new world of tourism.

The Tourism Ambassador Programme is designed as an accessible and practical entry point into the tourism economy. It recognises that tourism is not only a sector of opportunity, but a shared ecosystem that relies on informed, engaged, and responsible participants at every level.

This pathway introduces the fundamentals of tourism while building an understanding of how destinations thrive when communities are equipped, included, and aligned.

Positioned at the start of the Good Tourism Journey, the programme is tailored for newcomers to the sector. It speaks directly to front-line workers, community members exploring tourism opportunities, students, and youth seeking meaningful economic participation. The focus is not only on exposure but on building confidence, awareness, and a sense of belonging within the tourism landscape.

On a practical level:

  • All Tourism Ambassadors are invited to a WhatsApp group where they will be introduced to a range of information and opportunities and join a community of like-minded people.
  • A focused Tourism Ambassador training programme is available in different regions across the Western Cape. You will be invited to slot into upcoming events.
  • Training is presented both in person in the regions and online via the WhatsApp community.
