MORE ABOUT OUR OTHER PROJECTS

Amazink is a restaurant and theatre venue in the Kayamandi Township, founded and supported by the Greater Stellenbosch Development Trust (GSDT). This vibrant venue, which started as a dinner theatre in 2010, is now managed and operated as a tourism centre and large group events venue. Amazink also cater for the residents offering entertainment and a restaurant.

This social enterprise embodies circular economic principles by using recycled bread bags as raw material to create bags and a range of other items such as conference lanyards and water bottle slings used on walking tours. The business is women-led, and the items are sold mainly on a wholesale basis to the eventing and tourism sector.

E-Cargo Micro Logistics
The project is focused on the establishment of a micro logistics social enterprise that delivers small parcels on electric cargo bicycles. In the first phase of the project, an e-cargo bicycle was locally designed and tested and will in phase 2 be rolled out with the objective to provide income for riders through an integrated delivery service in Stellenbosch. Ultimately the aim is to reduce C02 emissions and create direct financial income for unemployed youth, in a sustainable model.

Stellenbosch Youth Employment Project
The project features an employment portal for youth graduates of participating community colleges and other training institutions that offer travel and tourism-related learning opportunities to NEETs (youth not in employment, education, or training) between the ages of 18 and 25. The project aims to promote the employment of local youth in the Stellenbosch tourism and travel sector.

The social enterprise was founded in 2018 with the objective of catalysing and supporting economic development through the development and marketing of community tourism products. The start-up was funded by Stellenbosch Municipality, Old Mutual Foundation, Stellenbosch University and the Cape Winelands District Municipality, and is now operating sustainably through trade income.
